The Jubilee weekend was again affected by the wet weather, with Monday being the best day for passengers. 1091 worked trains on all three days that we ran.
The Classic Vehicle Day on 10 June was a much better occasion, with a decent number of visitors, and better weather. Justine ran the steam service.
Having said last month all our internal combustion locos were in working order, the Hunslet diesel succumbed to a sticking piston which caused it to keep stopping unexpectedly and the clutch plate got overrheated. After quite a lot of attention, the loco was back in service by 10 June, when it ran the early service. Thoughts are turning to fitting the 1953 Ruston with air start as it has become more and more difficult to fire up using the starting handle.
Invitations have started to be sent out for our 50th anniversary in October, with some positive replies already received. One confirmed guest engine is 'Peter Pan' which of course was resident at Ashchurch and also in the early days at Toddington. One or maybe two other steam locos will hopefully be visiting as well.
